Banana Bread

This is Mom’s good banana bread recipe.

1/2 c. sour milk (1/2 c. milk + 1/2 tbsp. vinegar) or 1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
2 eggs
2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. baking soda
1 c. mashed bananas (about 2 – the older, the better)
1/2 c. chopped walnuts (optional)

Mix milk and vinegar and set aside to sour. 

Mix butter and sugar; add eggs and beat slightly.  Add sour milk or buttermilk and beat well.  Then add remaining ingredients and blend thoroughly.  Pour batter into large greased bread loaf pan and bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour.  Or, use 4 or 5 greased small foil bread pans and bake for 35 minutes.
