Italian Herb Bread


This white bread is seasoned with garlic and Italian herbs, and makes delicious meat or cheese sandwichesThe first ingredient quantity listed makes a 1 pound loaf; the quantity in parentheses makes a 1 1/2 pound loaf.

Olive oil – 2 tbsp. (3 tbsp.)
Garlic, pressed -1 clove (1 or 2 cloves)
Dried basil – 1 tsp. (1 1/2 tsp.)
Dried oregano – 1/2 tsp. (3/4 tsp.)
Dried rosemary – 1/2 tsp. (1/4 tsp.)
Dried thyme – 1/2 tsp. (1/2 tsp.)
Water – 1/2 c. (3/4 c.)
Milk – 1/4 c. (6 tbsp.)
Sugar – 1 tsp. (1 1/2 tsp.)
Salt – 1 tsp. (1 1/2 tsp.)
Bread flour – 2 c. (3 c.)
Yeast – 1 1/2 tsp. (2 1/4 tsp.)

Heat oil in small skillet.  Add the garlic and herbs; saute for 2 minutes, taking care not to let the garlic scorch or it will turn bitter.  If necessary, remove the pan from the stove; the herbs will continue cooking in the oil’s heat.

Place the herb oil into the bread pan and add the remaining ingredients in the order listed.  Set bread machine for white bread, medium crust.
