Tarnish remover

To remove tarnish from silver jewelry or other small items that can be placed in a container:

Place a piece of aluminum foil in the bottom of a glass bowl or pan.  Pour near-boiling water into the pan over the foil.  Sprinkle a couple of tablespoons of baking soda over the water; the solution should fizz slightly.  Place the tarnished jewelry onto the piece of aluminum.  (For very tarnished pieces, this may have to be repeated a couple of times).  Brush jewelry if necessary to remove stubborn tarnish buildup.  Rinse with cool water and dry thoroughly.

Store cleaned jewelry in zip-lock plastic bags with a piece of white chalk inside; the chalk helps prevent the buildup of new tarnish.
