Marinara Sauce


This recipe is from the Heart Hospital of South Dakota, so it must be good for you.

1 tbsp. olive oil
1 medium onion, chopped
2-4 cloves garlic, minced
42 oz. tomatoes
1 can unsalted tomato paste
1 tbsp. brown sugar
1 tsp. dried basil
1 tsp. dried oregano
Ground black pepper to taste

Heat oil in large skillet over medium heat.  Saute the onion and garlic until onions are tender; add remaining ingredients and stir just enough to blend.  Simmer 15-20 minutes uncovered, and serve.
